RE and MML for Therapists

Therapists already trained in Relationship Enhancement or Mastering the Mysteries of Love programs will learn how to apply these skills in therapy and will qualify for the RE/MML-therapist designation on the California Coalition and RE referral websites.

AFTER attending a Relationship Enhancment (RE), Mastering the Mysteries of Love (MML) or other marriage or relationship education program, couples can often benefit from additional coaching and help from a therapist or counselor.

Relationship Education (RE) skills and principles lend themselves to either an educational or therapy setting.

Therapists who are already trained in the RE/MML marriage education programs can add on this one-day training to be designated as a Relationship Education/Relationship Enhancement Affiliated Therapist on the Californaia Healthy Marriage Coalition and the Relationship Enhancement referral websites.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
The institute is limited to mental health professionals (licensed or in training) who have ALREADY completed a 3 day MML/RE PROGRAM training. Completion of the pre-conference institute #103 at this conference or any previous RE/MML Program training qualifies you for admission to this training.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:
You will add powerful tools to your couple toolbox as you learn how to effectively coach couple dialogues using the 10 RE skills and using core techniques from RE therapy: Deepening Dialogues, Becoming, and Troubleshooting.

Deepening Dialogues - Enables a therapist to coach clients from stuck positions by helping them discover and express emotions, beliefs, and desires beneath conscious awareness.

Becoming - Enables a therapist to use his/her own empathic capacity to help clients express themselves more fully than they might on their own.

Troubleshooting - Helps a therapist work with resistance, defensiveness, and emotional reactivity.

The Institute will also include:
- A demonstration of the technique addressing serious topics (step-family loyalty, infidelity, and loss of confidence in therapy)
- Coached participant practice of dialogues, and
- Group processing

In addition, four aspects of the effective use of RE methods in therapy will be presented:
- Structuring intakes
- Structuring to reduce at-home conflict
- Use of Becoming when there are strong negatives which block progress, and
- Working with couples where there may be a possibility of domestic violence.

A team of experienced RE therapists will serve as coaches to provide the opportunity to learn from those with many years of experience in using RE programs and principles to heal and transform relationships.

WHAT YOU WILL RECEIVE:
Participants will receive “Coaching to Create Deep Empathy,” the Mastering the Mysteries of Love manual for coaches, and their choice of Rob Scuka’s Relationship Enhancement Therapy: Healing Through Deep Empathy and Intimate Dialogue or a 2-DVD set demonstrating RE intake, Deepened Dialogue, Becoming, and Troubleshooting.

Qualified participants who are licensed in California who complete this training and sign an accompanying agreement will be eligible to be listed as an RE/MML friendly therapist on the California Healthy Marriages Coalition websote at http://www.camarriage.com. Participants from outside the state can be listed as an RE/MML friendly therapist at http://relationshipenhancement.org

Requirements: Licensed mental health therapist or ability to practice therapy under supervision AND previous attendance at a 3-day RE training (Mastering the Mysteries of Love RE, Mastering the Magic of Love RE, Love’s Cradle RE, Relationship Enhancement Program).
