THE ROSEN CENTRE HOTEL: 9840 International Drive
Note there are two Rosen Hotels - one on
either side of the massive Orange County Convention
Center
and both on International Drive. Be
sure your taxi or shuttle doesn't drop you at the wrong Rosen
Hotel. You want
the Rosen Centre Hotel, NOT the Rosen Plaza
Hotel.
The hotel has two restaurants and a deli. Gauguins
serves three buffets:
Healthy Start breakfast (fruit, muffins, bagels, oatmeal,
cereal) $5.95
or full breakfast bar with the works including waffles and made to
order
omelettes, $10.95; lunch $8.95 and dinner $14.95,
including lots of extras - beverages, salads and dessert bar.
For upscale dining, there is Everglades. Red's, the New York-style
deli, serves
great take-out salads and sandwiches.
The hotel has two tennis courts. There is no fee to
use the courts.
Tennis racquets (of which there are only two!), can be
rented for
$5 each with balls, $10 deposit - so best to bring your own.
Parking at the Hotel is free for conference
attendees.
Cars can be rented at the Rosen for $31 and up /day
and returned
at the hotel or at the airport, which is 20 minutes away.
Within five minutes walk from the hotel is a MacDonalds, Red
Lobster, Dennys,
International House of Pancakes, a grocery store and a
7-11.
The Orlando Convention Center, right next door, has a
Kinkos.
TROLLEY: International Drives I-Ride Trolley
connects the hotel to Sea World,
Ripleys Believe It or Not, Wet N Wild, Belz Factory Outlet(the
worlds largest outlet mall),
and dozens of nearby hotels, restaurants, and endless shopping.
Adult fare -75 cents,
over 65 -25 cents, kids under 12 free, 7am to midnight, every 15
mins.
One-day pass $2, three- day pass $3, five-day $5, seven-day $7.
****However, the city buses (called the Linx
system)
cover the same route as the trolley's - faster
and you'll be MUCH more comfortable. The buses stop at all the
attractions,
shopping, etc but don't have to stop
at each hotel. (They do stop at our Hotel, so we're home
free!)
The Trolley tends to be hot, crowded, noisy and slow.
The bus is $1 - with large air conditioned coaches - and is well
worth the extra quarter.
Trust me on this one! You can also take the city buses
to Disney and to all major attractions for $1.
The locals laugh at the tourists who take the Trolley up and down
International Drive
and who pay for shuttles to Disney, Universal, etc.
The city bus stops are marked by a sign bearing a red paw
print.
There is a stop directly in front of the Rosen Centre hotel.
This stop serves both the I-Ride Trolleys
and the city buses. Wait for the bus and you'll get there
quicker. - diane
SHUTTLES TO MAJOR ATTRACTIONS: Transtar, Inc provides
shuttle service to
Disney's Magic Kingdom, Epcot, MGM Studio, Animal Kingdom, and
Universal Studios.
Round trip cost to Disney is $11/person; to Sea World and
Universal, $9/person.
Kids under 3 ride free. You need a ticket to go and a reservation
to return.
See above - Orlando City Buses go to all the same places for $1 per
person.
AIRPORT Transportation:
Shuttles: Transtar and Mears provide transportation
to
and from the airport for $13/person each way. Pick-up is
every half
hour around the clock but reservations are required to make sure
they stop at the hotel.
At the airport, purchase your shuttle
ticket on the lower level of the airport - no reservations
needed.
At the hotel, purchase tickets at the
customer services desk just inside the front entrance.
You have to wait till they have a full
shuttle bus at the airport before they'll leave.
Ride takes about a half hour depending on
number of hotel stops.
Taxis - you can put 4 to 8
people in a taxi (depending
on the size of the vehicle) at no extra
charge.
The taxi fare between airport and the Rosen
Centre Hotel is
between $27 - $35 depending on traffic. Meter
system.
City Bus - catch bus #42 to or from
the airport.
Fare is $1. Busses run every half
hour, from 6am to 10pm.
Look for the "Linx system" (they look like
regular city coach busses)
and a sign with a red paw print to mark the
stops.
The ride to the airport is approximately an
hour.
Buy tickets for trolleys and shuttles, rent cars, reserve child
care, etc. at
Guest Services just inside the front entrance of the hotel.
If, before you arrive, you have questions about what else is
available in
the area, etc., call Guest Services at the Hotel, 800-800-9840.
