Active Relationships (AR) Marriage Education Accelerated Training

This training equips & immediately certifies you to teach five programs.
The five programs for which you will be immediately certified are: Active Choices
(8-hour program for engaged and dating couples!)
“Active Marriage”, “Active Communication”, two Military programs, “Military Life and Resiliency Skills”
(for single or married troops), “Active Relationships
for Young Adult’s" (ARYA) and “Active Adults” for parents and singles.
The three additional Active Relationships “Mastery Series” programs for which you will
be able to become certified (through further study) are: Active Money Personalities
(including the new Money: Marriage Assessment Tool), Active Romance, and
Active Living (Traditions). You will be provided the study-DVD’s as part of your institute
materials at no extra charge.
This institute will cover practical elements of the five programs (in which you will receive
immediate certification) and partial elements of the three Active Relationships programs
from the “Mastery Series” (in which you are eligible to complete certification through further study).
Provided as part of your institute “materials package,” are leader-materials for all six programs,
plus “out of the box” (participant texts and DVD training sets) for the three additional Mastery
Series programs.
Note: The three “Mastery Series certifications,” requiring further study are optional. You may
complete at your convenience, certification in any or all three additional programs. Participants
who complete the institute and certification steps for the three additional programs are also eligible
for certification to lead Christian and Spanish editions of those Mastery Series programs.
Background:
Kelly Simpson has developed the curricula from first-hand experience leading marriage education
courses since 1997. The Active Relationships programs are widely utilized in military settings,
in federally funded healthy marriage education sites and in faith-based arenas.
Overview:
The institute will include the most important theories, teachings and techniques including:
avoiding faulty assumptions, anger management, clear communication, conflict resolution,
avoiding money power struggles, biology of love and romance, managing different desire
levels, daily routines, and traditions for lasting connections. We'll will cover elements of
the 8-hour “Active Marriage” program for communication and conflict resolution skills and
“Active Communication.” We wil also include important elements of military, single adults
and youth programs and elements of the Money, Romance and the Tradition programs.

About Kelly Simpson:
Kelly Simpson, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, is director of the Active Relationships Center in Dallas, Texas a 2006 federal HMI award recipient. Recent military work has included trainings for the Army, National Guard and for Air Force Europe. Simpson also works as technical consultant for HIAS, a national refugee organization assisting refugee agencies in establishing healthy marriage programming and implementation. She is nationally recognized for her work with couples to
promote marriage education ranging from communication and resolution, to romance, sensuality and sexuality. Simpson is also the founder of the FAR Foundation, an incubator for the Alliance for North Texas Healthy Effective Marriages (ANTHEM), a 2005 CCF grantee and a 2006 Healthy Marriage grantee. A lifetime certified teacher of the deaf, Simpson has blended the best of the best relationships skills for marriage education for youth. She has authored numerous articles and has been featured in national media including NBC Nightly News, FOX, CBS, Wall Street Journal, Dallas Business Journal, Dallas Morning News, and Psychology Today. A frequent lecturer, Simpson has been an author and faculty member of the State Bar of Texas Advanced Family Law Seminar. She conducts international professional trainings for mental health professionals, agencies, military personnel, clergy and lay leaders as well as Active Relationships classes for couples and youth.
Active Relationships Instructor Certification
Upon completion of the institute, participants will receive immediate certification for six Active Relationships programs: Active Marriage (the 8-hour program), “Active Communication” two Military programs, “Military Life Skills” (for single or married troops) and “Military Reunions”, a youth program “Active Relationships for Young Adults, and “Active Adults” for singles.
Further certification in three Mastery Series Courses (Active Money Personalities, Active Romance and Intimacy and Active Living) is optional and will require additional study beyond the institute. To be certified in these additional programs, institute participants must view (in entirety) the program’s training DVD’s, (DVD’s are also included in institute materials). Participants must also complete and submit an assessment (regarding the viewing of the DVD’s) to ARC. After ARC reviews the assessment, certification will be conferred. Certifications in any or all of the three Mastery Series programs may be obtained.
