Build practical funding and grant skills that will enable you to
secure
new resources for local marriage efforts. Funding local
marriage efforts
may seem illusive, but this interactive institute will provide
training and
tools that will expand your efforts through grants and other
funding
approaches. This interactive seminar provided by the We
Care America
National Grant Center will include updates on funding at both
the local
and national levels as well as skills that will enhance your
ability to win
what you go after. David Mills has broad experience in both local
and
national grant development and has been successful in developing
grants
to fund Community Marriage Initiatives.
What you'll learn:
- Skills designed to support the development of diversified funding
in
marriage ministries.
- Strategies to overcome the challenges that local marriage efforts
face when
they seek to expand services into the community.
- Ten funding approaches and skills and specific opportunities for
funding,
including:
- Core
Communication for Funding Results
- The Most Accessible Funds for Marriage Efforts
- Strategic Language
- Preparation for Funding Success
- Matching the Mind of the Funder
Those who have taken this training have said "this is the
best grant
training I have ever attended." Even veterans rank this
training as "the most benefit for the time invested."
You will be amazed how much progress you can make in this 15-hour
institute.
The training is the pre-requisite for participation in the
week-long
Marriage Ministry Grant Clinic’s that WCA holds each year, where
organizations
substantially complete the language for specific grant
applications. The work
that begins in this workshop will provide a track on which your
organization can run
toward successful funding.
Participants will each receive a Training Manual and other
support materials.

David Mills, MA, MPA
David Mills is committed to the critical role that Faith Based
Organizations (FBOs)
play in meeting critical needs across our nation. With
a personal understanding
of the faith community and with skills developed through practical
experience
linking FBOs with community needs, David has developed systems for
engaging
FBOs in collaboration across traditional boundaries while retaining
their mission
and values. Since the first round of national welfare reform,
he has successfully
developed funding that has engaged more than 120 FBOs into new
levels of
community service through mentoring, prevention, premarital
training and child care
helping more than 30,000 families. This research-based
program matched with
appropriate funding resulted in the naming of his mentoring program
as a Promising
Practice by the USC Center on Religion and Civic
Culture. His efforts include
participation in the local TANF management team, the creation of
TANF funded
marriage services. David holds two Master’s Degrees, one in
Counseling and
another in Public Administration. David has served as both a
Senior Pastor and
as the Executive Director of a non-profit organization. He
has provided grant training
at the university level for more than three years. Currently, David
is the Director of the
We Care America National Grant Cener, which works to build the
capacity of FBOs
through training, mentoring and resource identification. His
personal knowledge
of a broad variety of funding mechanisms includes federal, state,
local, government
and private resources, and his skills as a professional trainer
will result in a high impact
presentation that will yield practical action for local marriage
initiatives.
