PREP offers training for mental health professionals, clergy, those from other professions
(such as nursing, education), and lay leaders who want to make a difference in couples' lives
using the PREP program. Different levels of PREP training are available which enable one
to teach different levels of PREP programs for couples.  This three day training at Smart Marriages
is the highest form of training that PREP offers in their model. Click for a comprehensive

 This year, we are pleased to offer a hybrid training model where those interested in Christian PREP
can attend the three day training, which will entail those so interested splitting off from the main
group for the second day of the three day training for intensive overview of the Christian,
theologically integrated model of PREP

PREP 3-Day Instructor Training - Pre-Conference Training Institute,
Covers:
- An overview key risk factors for marital distress and divorce.
- Communication skills training to help couples reduce negative interaction and handle conflict constructively.
- A problem solving method that works.
- A cognitive framework to help couples understand and discuss expectations.
- A framework for understanding, building, and maintaining commitment.
- Strategies for helping couples maintain friendship, fun and intimacy.
- A framework for exploring and enhancing honor, respect, intimacy and forgiveness in marriage.

Those taking the Christian PREP training option will attend Institute #101 but will spend lunches
with Scott Stanley/Gary Barnes for a Christian PREP focus.  The meal is not included.  Students will go out and purchase
a sandwich and return for the C-PREP seminar.

This three-day training qualifies you to conduct PREP and/or CHRISTIAN PREP in all the different formats that the
modular nature of the program supports (e.g., 6 week, weekend, one day with two
evening follow-up, one day only, etc.).

Participants will receive the core materials needed to teach the program: the kit
(approx.120- page leader manual,  copy of notes for couples, forms, research background information, etc.) and
either the book, "Fighting for Your Marriage." (regular PREP) or "A Lasting Promise" (Christian PREP).

Those who complete this three-day institute in the regular PREP track can also purchase the materials
for the Christian PREP course, and vice versa. Special PREP videos and/or PowerPoint (or overhead)
resources designed to teach the one-day program are also available for an extra fee.

Spouse discount: $150 off for spouse when taking institute #101 together.  With discounted rate,
couple receives two copies of the leader manual but will share other course materials. If one spouse takes
PREP and the other C-PREP, you will receive the two different leader manuals, but will have to pick the kit for
one program or the other.  You can purchase the second kit.
