POSTER SESSION TIPS:

An effective poster session presents an easy-to-read synopsis of your work.
Resist the temptation to post full pages of typed materials.
Viewers will be drawn by color, clear graphs, diagrams and brief bulleted lists.

Posters will be displayed on free-standing poster boards.  Bring push-pins
to attach your work to the board.

Use one panel for a brief statement of the problem. Another for a brief
description of the methods used. Three to four panels to show graphs
of figures depicting results and one to present conclusions and/or recommendations.

Number each panel so viewers can quickly grasp and follow the sequence.
Use a minimum of text. Use phrases instead of complete sentences when possible.
A guideline is that the total length of text should not exceed 25 lines.

A brightly colored background adds interest and emphasis.  Prepare a title strip
at least four inches high with names of authors for the top of the display with lettering
at least 1" high.  Subtitles should be at least 1/2" high.  Use dark block letters. Viewers
will be standing from three to six feet away and lettering must be legible from that
distance. Try it out at home - ask people  to read and critique your work.

Include web site, phone and email on the display so that attendees can contact you for
more information. Your display should be self-explanatory without the need for a handout.
However, you are encouraged to make yourself available at your poster for questions and
discussion and to provide handouts for those who might be interested.

You will be notified of the dimensions of your display space in April.
