The pre and post conference Training Institutes start at 8:30am and end
at 5:30pm. We suggest you arrive the night before to be in place
by 8:30am. The airport shuttle takes approximately 45 mins.

PRICE FIXE - FINE DINING! Rosen Shingle Creek is offering Smart Marriages attendees $25 per person price fixe, 3-course menus at their two fine-dining restaurants: A Land Remembered (steak house) and Calla Bella (upscale Italian). This was a huge hit last year and I encourage you to make reservations early. Amazing food and wonderful ambiance. Call the hotel general number, 407-996-9939 and ask for the restaurant(s) or the concierge to make reservations. The Bill Doherty *Becoming Better Husbands* banquet is Friday night, hope you're joining us for that. But the rest of the week is wide open. On Thurs, Sat & Sun you'll need early reservations so you can make it to the evening keynotes. Thurs the opening keynote with Gary Chapman begins at 6:30pm! On 3/22/2010: The Shingle Creek has been telling callers that the hotel is full. Our conference block is NOT full. To reserve, ask for the Smart Marriages block and a room rate of $110 single/double. If they tell you it's full, be persistent. Ask for a manager. There is availability at our conference rate from July 3 to July 15.
Shingle Creek Amenities and Cancellation POLICY:
Reservations must be guaranteed with a major credit card. 5 days prior to your arrival date, your card
will be charged for one night unless you cancel the reservation before this date.The kids are out of school - make this a family vacation, bring them along!
Children under 18 stay free in parents' room.
Amenities include:
Spacious 436 sq ft guest rooms with flat-screen TV; connections for laptop (see below for rates), Ipod, etc;
coffee makers, iron & ironing board, hair dryers, and alarm-clock radios. Rollaway beds are available free of charge for Smart Marriages registrants - reserve in advance. NOTE: there is a surcharge for all local AND long-distance calls made from hotel rooms. Use your cell phone, instead!
Four pools (adult only, family, lap, & kiddie) and two hot tubs are complimentary to guests.
Two lighted tennis courts, sand volleyball, basketball, nature, hiking & jogging trails are complimentary.
Guest Room Internet - $10 for length of stay. Includes Internet access via an Ethernet connection in all guest rooms and a wireless connection in the lobby, restaurants and pools. The wireless signal is not available in the meeting space (not in meeting rooms, exhibit area, or foyers). For those not staying at the hotel, wireless internet is available at $4.95 per hour or $9.95 a day for all common areas of the hotel (not in meeting rooms, exhibit area, or foyers).
Health Club/Fitness Center - complimentary for hotel guests.
Parking - $8 for self parking and $18 overnight, per night plus 6.5% tax.
Golf: For info, reservations & rates for the 18-hole, par 72, championship golf course desinged by David Harman, that surrounds the property. Rates for guests: $69 regular tee time; $44 Twilight rate starting at 2pm.
(Here's a Golf update from a 2009 attendee: My husband came with me to the 2009 Orlando Conference and played golf every day. When we arrived, he signed up for tee times every day and ended up connecting with three or four spouses of Smart Marriage attendees and played with them all four days. As you recall, it rained a great deal. The golf course was really quite good, but play was (on some days) limited because of the water. However, he wants to come again this year and wants to play again - so, please announce to the list. Mick is a USGA ca member and keeps his handicap card up for amateur tournaments, so he's pretty critical of courses...and he did like this one. One other thing you might not know...every day, they only charged him like $15 or even let him play free because they felt bad about the rain. It was a great bonus! -Kelly Roberts)
Game Arcade - great games for only 50¢ a game on lower level.
In spite of this being a fancy resort, there is an onsite guest laundry room next to the game arcade. Laundry: $3.25 a load and $1.75 for a 45 min dryer cycle. Detergent for sale in vending machines.
There's a Publix supermarket/grocery store across the street at end of the resort driveway (a mile long driveway!)
That same shopping area has take-out Chinese (East Palace 407-226-6757) and Pizza/Deli (NYPD 407-992-8990) restaurants that deliver to the hotel.
Taxis: Star taxies are always at the ready just outside the front door - convenient. Or, call a Yellow cab for a predictibly lower price. Example I was quoted $25 to the Outlet Mall by Star and $15 by Yellow cab. Be sure to ask.

Disney World, Universal, Wet‘N Wild, Sea World and several huge shopping Malls including a very popular Outlet Mall. There are free shuttles and discount deals including 1/2 day/1/2 price tickets to Sea World, Universal Studios, and Wet n Wild. Disney shuttle is $14 R/T per person. All shuttles MUST be reserved in advance. Travel desk in the Shingle Creek lobby opens at 7:15am - to call ahead for reservations or information: 407-828-3035. When I was down in March, the travel desk offered a Disney discount deal if you are willing to see a 90 min Time Share presentation that includes a continental breakfast.
