San Francisco Transportation:
San Francisco is one of the easiest cities in the world to negotiate. Public transportation options abound, including the world-famous cable cars. Getting around has never been this fun. The San Francisco Hilton
is located in downtown San Francisco just blocks from Union Square, cable cars ($5), the wonderful, efficient, affordable Muni light rail system ($1.50 with transfers), and BART trains. If using BART from the airports,
get off at the Powell St station. Note this info was current when posted: Sept 2007. Please verify for yourself.
There are three SF area AIRPORTS: Shop for the most affordable, most convenient flights and then factor in
time and cost to get to and from the Hilton.
San Francisco International Airport (SFO):
SFO is 17 miles south of the Hilton San Francisco, our conference hotel.
Trip takes approximately 30 mins depending on traffic/time of day
and mode of transportation. SFO connects non-stop with more than 60
cities in the U.S. on 21 domestic airlines offering many choices with competitive
fares plus non-stop flights to over 30 international destinations on 25 international carriers,
BART:
$5.35 to the Powell St station just 3 blocks from the Hilton.
Door-to-Door Shuttle Van Services: Nearly a dozen door-to-door van services operate 24 hrs a day from all terminals at SFO.
Fares approximately $17 per person each way. Take any available van. Vans leave approximately
every 15 mins.
TAXI:
Approximate fare to Hilton is $41. 4-5 pp per taxi, depending on vehicle.
Oakland International Airport (OAK):
OAK airport is 18 miles from the SF Hilton across the bay. OAK offers more
than 200 daily nonstops with affordable fares on
17 major airlines. Most affordable transportation to the Hitlon/about 45 mins and $6.25: take the AirBart shuttle to the BART station ($3) and BART ($3.25) to the Powell St station, a 3 block walk to the hotel. Taxi $45, 4pp per taxi. For Super Shuttle, (40 mins, $25 for 1st person and $15 for each addiional person),
you must call in advance and reserve -800-628-3161.
San Jose Airport (SJC):
50 miles from the SF Hilton. Plan an hour and a half to the hotel. Most affordable: take a taxi or shuttle to the CalTrain station; CalTrain ($6.75) to the SF station at 4th and King, and a 12 min taxi to the Hilton. Taxi - approx $150 for 4pp. Door-to-door shuttle vans are approximately $70pp from SJO to San Francisco.
BART BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) is the fast, convenient and inexpensive way to travel from either the
San Francisco International (SFO) or Oakland (OAK) airport to the Hilton and to many outlying areas. Use the Powell St station, just 3 blocks from the Hilton.
RAILROAD: If you travel by AMTRAK (beautiful, scenic way to travel!)
Train station is 1.5 miles from hotel, free shuttle to the hotel.
If you Drive or rent a car,
Hotel self or valet parking is currently (as of 9/07) $45.60 per day (includes tax).
The hotel is located at 333 O'Farrell St in downtown SF.
AVIS Conference Discounts of 5 - 25% good June 23 - July 13.
3 blocks from the hotel at 675 Post St, between Jones & Taylor. Avis
offers free pick-up service. Reserve at least 24 hrs in advance.
GETTING AROUND San Fancisco: (click for TONS of things to do)
Taxi's in SF use meters and are $2.83 per mile. Up to 4 pp per taxi.
Rent a car for a day trips to Yosemite, wine country, etc etc.
Avis is located 3 blocks from the Hilton.
